I love tea. I love herbal teas. There is nothing better than getting stuff done or just sitting back and relaxing with a cup of tea, especially if it’s a cup of tea with an unbelievable amount of benefits, such as herbal tea.
I am constantly astounded every time I click on an article or infographic relating to tea at just how many benefits they all have. From emotional aid to better health, it’s as though there isn’t anything tea can’t fix. So I’m sharing a few of my particular favourite herbals that I love to get work done or relax with.
1. Chamomile tea
Chamomile tea is the first herbal tea I ever got into; I’ve been obsessed with its benefits for years and have credited my love of herbal teas to it. Chamomile is known for its relaxing properties which assist in calming the body and the mind so it’s great for insomnia, your digestive system and stomach upsets, as well as anxiety and stress. While these relaxing properties are also great for your skin, chamomile also contains quercetin which helps to protect your skin from the sun! So yes, it does everything, really.
2. Peppermint tea
Now peppermint tea was the second herbal tea I fell in love with! Peppermint tea is great for your digestive system; it soothes bloating and is prescribed to people with irritable bowel syndrome. It also great for nausea, vomitting and people who suffer from motion sickness. It’s also known to control muscle aches and chronic pain, ease symptons of the flu and cold, stress relief, lessen herpes outbreaks and can help fight issues with acne due to its boosting of estrogen levels.
3. Ginger tea
Ginger tea is another tea that is great for the digestive system and known for soothing nausea or an upset stomach. It has anti-inflammotory properties that assist colds and have also aided people with arthritis.
4. Green tea
Green tea is another tea that can do almost anything, being called the “wonder herb.” Most remarkably, green tea apparently lowers cancer risk, lowers cholesterol, promotes heart health, helps lower blood pressure, boosts your metabolism, relieves anxiety and stress, and promotes dental hygene and health. It’s also said to reduce skin damage and prevent wrinkles.
5. Lemongrass tea
Lemongrass is known for the flavour it adds to cooking, but it’s also so tasty to drink as a tea. It’s another tea that is great for the digestive system and cleansing and detoxifying, controls cholesterol levels, helps keep your skin healthy and heals the cold and the flu.
So there you have it, 5 herbal teas to heal almost any ailment you need healing!
If you don’t like herbal teas, I encourage you to give them another go. I found that I didn’t like herbal tea immediately but after persisting and drinking a couple more cups, I’ve fallen in love!
Drinking tea is even better when it’s from the cutest tea set from Kikki.K! How cute is the matching cup that provides some sweet motivation as you drink!
