Do you ever have those moments or days when you realize how far you’ve come either in just a short time or a long time?
Yesterday I stopped and found myself thinking about how much I’ve matured just in a matter of months and while to a certain point, I felt a little overwhelmed and anxious, I also felt accomplished for the little things that have allowed me to grow in small ways.
Of course big life events remind you of how far you’ve come, such as graduating or landing the first step into your dream career.
But sometimes very little details of life can do the same.
Such as the event that caused the thoughts, being in a very minor car accident where someone hit me from behind, I felt like I had handled the situation much better than I ever would have expected (and a lot better than the person at fault). Admittedly, I got into the car and sobbed and called my dad to sort out the nitty gritty… but all the same, I felt like the Kyah this time last year would have had a mental breakdown at the scene and that in itself is enough to feel accomplished in my growth.
While smaller details such as going out to lunch during a friends work break to catch up and beginning a new blog to further my professional image within the industry I’m slowly becoming a part of.
These small things remind me of two things: how far I’ve come but also how far I have to go. But it’s not a bad feeling at all.
In this small amount of time I’ve come far enough to feel content, imagine how far I can go in a year.
So, there’s my small piece of wisdom for you: acknowledge small details of life and let them remind you of your journey whether it be exciting or a little daunting.
